Fees 
 

    SCHOOL FEES FOR THE 2011-12 SCHOOL YEAR

 PARENTS:  PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR SCHOOL FEES TO J.T. FOSTER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.  (If you are unable to pay these fees at this time please call the office at (403) 646-2264 to set-up a payment schedule.)  The following is a breakdown of your invoice:

 1)    INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS FEE

       Jr. High (Gr. 7, 8 & 9)                  $50 per student

       Sr. High (Gr. 10, 11 & 12)           $70 per student    

        ** Students who are only taking Distance Learning are also required to pay this fee.

 2)    TRANSPORTATION FEESEXTRA-CURRICULAR SPORTS AND FIELD TRIPS

       These trips will only be possible on a “user pay” basis. More information will be provided to students as the situations arise.  **Each Jr. and Sr. Sports team is responsible for covering the costs of their league and zone fees, ref and score keeper fees, bussing, and uniform etc.  These costs will be divided equally among the team members or by fundraising.

     

3)   PHYS. ED. - TRANSPORTATION AND GYM STRIP (All students ---Gr. 7 to 12)           

All students will be required to pay a $6 Phys. Ed. transportation fee (Sr. High students, the $6 fee is per course) to cover the costs of “in-town” bussing (eg. Trips to the rink, golf course, etc.)  All students are expected to wear J.T. Foster T-shirts and shorts for all Phys. Ed. classes (shirts $15 shorts $15).  Athletic shoes must be worn for all Phys. Ed. classes (shoes used for Phys. Ed. should not be their street shoes).  All Phys. Ed. students will need to provide their own badminton racquet, baseball gloves, ice skates and helmet.

 4)  LOCKS (for hallway lockers) – (All students---Gr. 7 to 12) 

$3.00 rental fee ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO USE THE LOCKS PROVIDED (do not use locks from home).  

5)  STUDENT HANDBOOK - (All students --- Gr. 7 to 12)

Each student in grades 7 to 12 for an additional cost can purchase a student handbook.

6)  DIVISION COMPUTER FEES - (All students ---Gr. 7 to 12)

     A $10 “divisional” computer fee (to cover school division based costs).

 7)  SCHOOL COMPUTER & SUPPLY FEE – (All students --- Gr. 7 to 12) 

A $25 school computer & supply fee will be charged to help cover the cost of computer paper, toner, software, printer and computer maintenance use, etc.

 8)  BAND FEES

(a)  Band Misc. Fee - $15 per student for sheet music, misc. supplies, etc.  (Band students Gr. 8 to 12.)

(b)  Band Instrument Rent - $50 Grade 7 band students will be able to rent instruments and receive a music folder and misc. supplies from the school. Students from grade 8 and up will either have purchased their own instruments or they will be renting privately from a music company such as St. John’s National.  Arrangements to rent from these companies should be made by the parents prior to school starting in September so students have their instruments when classes begin.  **A few “large instruments” will be rented to the students by the school at a cost of $50/yr.  This rental fee also applies to the drums!   (Contact the band teacher directly if your child plays one of these, to make sure the instrument is available.)

(c)  All Grade 8 & 9 Non-Band Students will take the Sports Option or Shop Option.

 

JR. HIGH OPTION FEES (Gr. 7-9):

All Jr. High students will be taking four options throughout the year.  The Option fee for this year is $50 for the year.  Proposed options for 2011-2012 are as follows: 1st Quarter Option: Foods, Art, Mini-Builders, French, Sports.  2nd Quarter Option: Foods, Art, Sports, Drama, Mini-Builders, Movie Making.  3rd Quarter Option: Foods, Art, Sports, French, Welding.  4th Quarter: Foods, Weight Training, Outdoors Sports, Drama, Welding.

 

SR. HIGH OPTIONS FEES (GR. 10 –12)

All Sr. High students will be taking 1 option per semester.  The Option fee for this year is $60 per Semester.

Foods, Art, Welding, Carpentry, Media, Phys. Ed. 20/30.

OTHER:

 -          Distance Learning:  a $35 school registration fee will be charged to DL students who are  not already enrolled at J.T. Foster.  Senior students also must pay a deposit of $250 for a 5 credit course or $150 for a 3 credit course and a 1 credit course for $50 (this money will be refunded when the course is complete).  Jr. High Students pay a non-refundable fee of $200.  Students may also have to pay a deposit on course textbooks.

      -          Yearbook (optional):  $30 for this year’s yearbook.  Orders are being taken now (see attached form).

-          Green Certificate: a $360 deposit will be charged (this money will be refunded when the program is complete).

-          F.A.C.E.S.: a $250 deposit will be charged (this money will be refunded upon completion of the program).

-          Fitness Center:  Students who would like to use the fitness center at noon hours or after school are required to have a completed registration form on file in the office.  They must be 16 years of age or older in order to use the fitness equipment as no one is available to give them proper training.   Younger students may use the facility but they must be accompanied by his or her own parent. The fitness center may also be used by students in conjunction with their phys. ed. classes and possibly for extra training for school sports teams.
