Parents have always been involved at Granum School and in May 1995, Granum School Council was officially established.
Granum School has many committees in place to take care of the many needs of the school. The committees involve more than just the seven elected to School Council. We have many volunteers that sit on committees advising School Council or doing the ground work for projects. In the past, one project was to help with time and money raised to upgrade our computers in the school. Another huge project was the new playground. We also use money raised for smaller projects, such as basketball uniforms, math manipulatives, author visits etc. Parents are heartily welcomed and encouraged to join a committee, whether they are a member of School Council or not.
School Council is encouraged in becoming more politically involved in education in Alberta with Alberta Learning. The school Board has also asked for our input on proposed policies.
Our Annual General Meeting is held at the beginning of the school year. Everyone is invited to come to these meetings to participate in discussion and debate and have input into your child's education. We need you to enable us to a good job.
