During the 2010-2011 school year, Central Office staff met with students from each of our high schools to get their input on creating a Regional Student Council. Students supported that idea and helped develop a terms of reference to guide their work. The Terms of Reference follows:

Regional Student Council
Terms of Reference
Purpose:
- Provide a forum for student input and voice in educational decision making in order to communicate more effectively with the Livingstone Range School Division Board of Trustees.
- Foster understanding of leadership in a democratic context.
- Build leadership capacity with students.
- Share ideas and learn from each other
- Bring forward issues and concerns
Background:
Livingstone Range School Division Policy 2 – Accountability Framework, and LRSD Assurance Framework are foundational to the work of this group.
Membership:
- Three (3) members of each Grades 7-12 School in Livingstone Range School Division and their advisors.
- All members of the LRSD Board of Trustees.
- Central Office senior management team
Chairperson:
Regional Student Council will be co-chaired by the Chair of the Board of Trustees and one member chosen from the Student Leadership representatives. The Co-chairs will be responsible for meeting agendas.
Scope:
- Team is in place for the 2011-2012 school year
- Meetings will be held two (2) times during the year.
- Representatives from the Regional Student Council will be asked to meet with Trustees and Regional School Council during the 2011-2012 school year.
- The team’s Terms of Reference will be reviewed in May of 2012.
