Trustee as 'Information Receiver'

Good information forms the basis for sound decisions. Good information may also be available from fellow trustees from other districts that have considered similar problems. The Alberta School Boards Association provides services to trustees by organizing workshops and seminars.

 National Congress on Rural Education

This year’s theme, Rural Education: The Many Faces of Leadership, symbolizes how leadership in effective organizations takes on many different forms and comes from the contributions of many throughout the organization. Effective organizations invariably have leaders who are a visible and active presence in their organizations. They recognize that leadership is everyone’s business and provide opportunities for all members to develop leadership skills and abilities.

From March 27 - 29, Livingstone Range School Division Trustees Shannon Scherger, Clara Yagos, Jim Burdett, Charlene Dunlop and Kelly Hall attended this year's conference in Saskatchewan.

 Professional Learning Seminar

A key element in the provision of educational services is the teacher. Trustees recognize the important role of teachers and school administrators in translating policy into educational practice. Alberta School Board Association - http://www.asba.ab.ca/trusteeship/trustee_role.asp.
